I get the anger... but here’s the part that actually matters.
He is an ambassador.
Which means when he talks like this, it isn’t noise... it’s official posture.
That’s what makes it serious.
When an ambassador starts floating “we’ll just operate more freely in your country” as leverage, that’s not MAGA bluster anymore — that’s diplomacy slipping into pressure tactics.
We don’t need to kick him out to call it what it is.
We just need to stop pretending this is normal ally talk.
I’ve known it wasn’t normal ally talk from the first. That is why I called him the mouthpiece. He’s not even repeating Trump’s words, it’s higher up. Not kidding myself just can’t stand him
The Canadian government has been wrestling with the decision to purchase military aircraft for how many years now ? Isn’t it time ….or beyond time to get this done ? Considering the political climate we are living in ? Shit or get off the proverbial pot ! Go buy the Gripen !
😄 That’s about as diplomatic as most Canadians feel on this one, Lorne — and you’re not wrong.
We’ve been “evaluating” fighter jets since flip phones were cutting-edge. At some point, “due diligence” just turns into paralysis.
The case for Saab Gripen has always been pretty straightforward...
Built for countries that don’t assume air superiority by default
Designed to operate from short, rough runways (hello, northern Canada)
Lower operating costs = planes actually flying, not parked
Real industrial offsets instead of brochure promises
Partners who don’t expect Canada to salute first and ask questions later
And yeah... context matters. The political climate is hotter, alliances are shakier, and supply chains aren’t guaranteed. Waiting another decade doesn’t make us safer or smarter.
This isn’t about chest-thumping.
It’s about competence.
Pick a platform. Lock in jobs. Train pilots. Defend airspace.
Shit or get off the pot might be the most accurate procurement policy we’ve heard in years. 🇨🇦✈️
I wish he would just get kicked out of Canada. He is not an ambassador, he’s a MAGAt mouthpiece
