Aluminum production takes a huge amount of electricity to make that Canada has in abundance at a cheap cost. The USA is sadly lacking in electrical generation. There used to be 2 dozen or so aluminum smelters in the US and they all closed as they couldn't compete with Canadian and other foreign producers. Now, American users of aluminum are coming hat in hand trying to buy whatever they can get their hands on, at a price demanded by Canada, with the added bonus of a 50% tariff for good measure. What has also helped Canada increase their exports to Europe was another Trump own goal: the Iranian war. That has caused havoc with all of the aluminum producers in the middle east. European users of aluminum could no longer get a reliable supply from the middle east and were able to quickly pivot to Canada as a reliable supplier. For Canadian aluminum producers, Europe should be a huge long term gain.
Of course trump is a tremendously morally flawed character but I also honestly think he just has not got the mental capacity to see the big picture.

Jimmy Kimmel did a good monologue on tRUMP and how many times he's said he's a "stable genius" and that he knows more than the generals, the doctors, the judges, his lawyers, the researchers, teachers and professors, economists and, yes, even the blue collar construction workers! Now when has he ever worked in any of those rolls?
How did he become "educated" enough about these other jobs? What college degrees does he possess and what was his major and what was his grade point average? Those were details he'd never divulge and only says he "was nearly at the top of the class" (he wasn't, he was in the bottom half of the students graduating that year as one of his former college mates provided the school's annual for that year which proves it!) And, yes, he went to Wharton but he only got his undergrad degree and it's Wharton's Masters in Business program that Wharton is known for. But Wharton was ready to graduate his ass out the door with his undergrad degree. Besides he didn't have the grade point average even to be remotely considered for their Masters program. And Big Daddy couldn't buy him a place in the Master's program either. So they had to come up with Plan B because he was still draft eligible as the Viet Nam was raged on. Plan B- that gives me a giggle! Anyway, Big Daddy got a doctor who rented space in one of his buildings to give him a doctored X-ray showing he had planter fascitis. Which, of course, tRUMP didn't have. BUT it worked! tRUMP never had to worry about serving anymore! Leave that to the stupid grunts who were either drafted or went in voluntarily.
Anyway, Jimmy showed clip after clip bragging time and again, about how much smarter than, well, everyone else he was.
Then Jimmy proceeded to show another montage of clips where he's being asked directly questions in all these various subjects that he's so well read on. And his answer to them all? Every. Single . Question. Was, you guessed it! "I don't know." Every single damn time it was, "I don't know."
It was equal parts hilarious and very sad at the same time! He's told us time and again that he's a "stable genius" and that he knows stuff better than all the folks who were well educated with many degrees and plaques awarded them and decades of experience behind them. Yet, when push came to shove, he couldn't deliver the goods. And worse, he doesn't give a rat's ass. Which is also par for tRUMP, and I won't even go into his psychological makeup because that's been given by many with more experience than I, but let's just say it's not a good one.
Jimmy's little monologue was exactly what he wanted it to be. The perfect eye opening look about just how much tRUMP really DOES knows about anyone subject. And all questions asked were tied to his job as president and he still didn't have answers about how the government along with the rest of the world works. He couldn't come up with one answer except, "I don't know!" Kinda like when he pled the 5th 400+times during deposition for his business fraud case. If he doesn't have an answer for any of it, then what the hell is he doing in Oval Office?!!
But we already know what he does in the Oval Office. He gets his ego stroked by a bunch of imbeciles much like himself then he takes a nap. Then lunch and then it's executive time with FOX snooze followed by a 2nd nap. Then din din of Micky Ds or KFC. Then bed? Hell no! It's time to beat his chest on social media all fucking night long. And his weekends? Golf till you puke! This is what we pay him for.
Oh, and his demands are endless, a fucking bullet proof ballroom because the Iranians are looking to take him out just because tRUMP needed an excuse to have the Epstein file ditched. A huge arch bigger than other buildings with his name emblazoned in large gold letters across it and the lust goes on and on. It never stops with him. He HAS to own everyone!
He started the war in Iran with little thought about any of the demands that come with an extended war that HE caused in the first place! And in the second, he has absolutely no exit strategy and sailors on the Abraham Lincoln ship attempted a mutiny recently that cost 7 lives because of it. It's because they've run short of everything like food, detergent for clothes washing and soap and deodorant, cleaning supplies -you name it, they are either really low or it's non existsnt, medicine and even fuel. And they are a sitting duck because they can't leave because they'd have to go through the Strait and Iran has it closed right now.
So, I wait with bated breath to see what his next catastrophe will be and who will lose because of it. And I'm sure he'll be coming out with some new "Little Shop of Horrors" bullshit to dish out. He's never failed us thus far in that category.

Carney himself stated that he has a plan and counter measure for whatever moves Trump and Greer throws at him in the ongoing tariff negotiations. Regardless of what the USA throws at us, I have confidence that Carney will do what's best for Canada and the Canadian people.
