Don't forget the Trump Cell Phone (State of the art, 'Merican made, cheap, etc., etc.) -- oh, wait a minute, that one really fizzled, and to stop backlash from the MAGA idiots who bought them on spec, Don Jr and Eric swapped older-model Chinese handsets in their place!
(and they complain about Chinese EV's "spying on them" from across the Canadian border, and about Huawei in his first term!)
Yes, but I'd rather get entertained elsewhere. The grift pouring out from this unbelievably corrupt regime, with basically zero pushback from DJTs Republican enabling thugs continues to boggle the mind. I suspect that many readers of Fred's timely articles are seniors such as myself, who have RRIFs and in my case, self-manage the account. To see the massive stock market gyrations caused by these 3 am posts that DJTs billionaire buddies see immediately is very disconcerting to say the least! These circumstances are confirming what I sensed during his first term, and has been amplified a thousand-fold during his second term:. DJT is creating a fascist state and will most certainly try everything to nullify November's midterms if the Democrats regain the House and hopefully the Senate as well. He will use any ridiculous justification to impose a "state of emergency".
My wife and I used to enjoy our many trips to the US in our small campervan. We will NEVER set foot in the US again. Which brings me to my last point: If the 2024 elections were free and fair, how Americans could have voted for this thug again, especially after the horrific events of January 6th is truly mind-boggling.
Jerry, I think you've touched on what worries a lot of ordinary investors.
Whether it's RRIFs, pensions, or savings, most people aren't trying to beat the market... they're just hoping political headlines don't whipsaw their retirement.
That's one reason I wrote this article.
An economy works best when long-term investment matters more than guessing what tomorrow's social media post might say.
Hi Jerry, My husband and I are with you on all your points regarding your investments and position about visiting the US. Last year we cashed in a lot of our portfolio and paid off our mortgage. Now that we are no longer in the workforce, we are relying on our CPP & OAS to live. It's thin going but at least we don't have a mortgage payment now. Plus I am a saver!
Trumpet is not only a liar & a thief, he scams his people out of gazillions of dollars & no one seems to know what to do about it. Maybe oust him for all his crimes against his citizens, children & anyone & everything that can get him an extra 5 bucks. They "maybe" voted him in, it's time to throw him out!!! Thanks again Fred for another eye opener post :)
It really is disheartening❤️🩹Lending support on a community level can make one feel better and keeping in touch with like minded people who can rally when needed helps with the feeling of powerlessness. All the best to you in these crazy times🫶🏼
Community has always been one of Canada's greatest strengths.
We can't control everything happening in the world, but we can support one another, stay informed, and keep building the kind of country we want to live in. 🫶

Always entertaining!
😂 You're right, Grant.
I'd almost forgotten the Trump Phone.
It was supposed to be the next big thing until reality showed up.
The interesting part isn't that one grift fizzled... it's that they keep getting replaced.
That's what made me wonder if volatility itself has become the most valuable product of all.

Thanks, Patsy. ❤️
What concerns me most isn't the politics...
It's what happens when markets and businesses start reacting more to unpredictable headlines than to real economic fundamentals.
That's not good for investors, workers, or retirees on either side of the border.
I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment, my friend.
It feels like the end of the world.
Fires cover the earth.
Trump and Netanyahu rule mostly everywhere.
Where does society go from here?
I understand why it feels that way, Carol-Ann.
But history has a funny way of reminding us that even the darkest chapters eventually end.
Countries adapt, leaders change, and people find ways forward.
My hope is that Canada keeps investing in resilience instead of fear... and that's one reason I keep writing these articles.

Beautifully said, Kath. ❤️
