As for this mornings article you wrote it was very well written as usual. I always come away from your articles knowing something more than what I had known previously. On a side note, frankly I’m sick and tired of our country being taken advantage of by so-called friends and neighbours. Thank you for your reporting.

Thank you, Tracy.

That means a lot to me.

My goal has always been to help Canadians understand what's happening and why it matters.

And I share your frustration.

Good neighbours should act like good neighbours.

Canada needs to get much better at protecting its own interests.

Hi Fred, this question is a little off topic. I read last evening that a few more Canadians were arrested in conjunction with midterm election interference. How far do you think the people who are already gearing up to blame anyone or anything for poor results will go and if the accusations can hold water?

Tracy, I looked into this, and yes, some Canadian nationals have been charged over alleged illegal voting in previous U.S. elections.

But there's an important distinction between individual voting offences and Canada interfering in an American election.

So far, I haven't seen credible evidence connecting those cases to an organized Canadian effort.

As for what happens if the Republicans lose seats in November, I wouldn't be surprised to see Canada blamed.

The accusations have already started.

But accusations aren't evidence, and Canada shouldn't be intimidated into silence for defending its own interests.

It was an article by CBC that I had read. I was very alarmed because there was a picture of an older woman, the caption underneath the picture said she was about 69, in her night attire, in the middle of the night, in her slippers, being detained by ICE agents.

In one instance last week, a 69-year-old Canadian, a lawful permanent resident living in Florida, was indicted on charges of making a false statement claiming U.S. citizenship to vote and "illegal voting by an alien," prosecutors said.

The woman allegedly registered to vote in 2021 and then cast a ballot in the 2022 U.S. general election.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security released a photo of the woman during her arrest with her face blurred. The image appeared to show her dressed in a housecoat and slippers, surrounded by federal agents outside a home after dark.

Several of the charges were brought by federal prosecutors named by the Trump administration, such as Ellis Boyle in Raleigh, N.C.

"This is the worst type of constitutional assault on our independence and liberty," Boyle told reporters earlier this month.

Again, on a side note this is outrageous. That poor woman.

Tracy, I can certainly understand why that photograph upset you.

Seeing a 69-year-old woman in her housecoat and slippers surrounded by federal agents is disturbing.

What concerns me is how these cases are being presented.

The alleged offence dates back to the 2022 election, and this woman has been charged, not convicted.

She's entitled to due process, regardless of her citizenship.

And none of this establishes that Canada is interfering in the upcoming American midterms.

We need to be very careful about separating actual evidence from political accusations.

That's especially important when people's lives and reputations are involved.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention, Tracy.

It's worth examining closely.

Fred, I apologize for going so off topic. But I know that from your previous reporting that you can and will shed rational light on subjects that your readers can benefit from myself included.
