I LOVE this!! I must admit that as an English major, the written word has ways been a bit of a bug-bear for me.. however… that said, I have evolved from the woman that my kids lovingly called the “grammar Nazi”…..I now just sail over the incorrect spelling of your, you’re, there, their, two, too… but I must draw the line at the use of double negatives and “I seen”…… sorry! 😝
My mother-in-law (whom I loved)..was an elementary school teacher. She never taught me in a classroom situation but I did learn from her as she didn’t hesitate to correct her own children’s spoken “Queens English”. My favorite memory of which is the correct use of lay vs lie. She politely explained that only chickens lay !
Taught high school English for three decades, and if I can accept the use of disrespect as a verb- which I have- then -for me, anyway- that is proof that language is an organic form of communication. It evolves. Words fall out of use, new words arrive, and mores change. Your passion trumps any idiosyncrasies in your expression. It’s the message that matters and you always deliver. Write on!
I’m a retired teacher! Does that mean I can correct spelling? Lol. Sorry couldn’t resist! I can also read words that make no sense to the common man or woman
😂 You’ve earned the right to correct spelling... that’s a lifetime license.
My beef isn’t with spelling… it’s with people using it as a dodge.
When someone can’t argue the point, they circle a typo like they just won the debate.
Teachers develop a superpower the rest of us don’t have... reading meaning through linguistic chaos. That skill alone should come with a pension bonus.

😂 Fair enough... everyone’s got one grammatical hill they’re willing to die on.
I respect the evolution though. Graduating from full-time “grammar enforcement officer” to selective outrage is real growth.
And yes… “I seen” is a bridge too far. Some standards must be defended. 😄
Appreciate the love... and the honesty.
🤣🤣🤣

It’s early. I may take a lie down 😉
