Having lived in the “safest” part of Mexico the Baja Peninsula for 20 years I can guarantee that if this woman actually exists, she truly is a complete and utter moron. Over the last 10 years the Cartels have moved in EVERYWHERE, and while they are mostly not the problem their hanger ons are. These are people that even the Cartels don’t want because they can’t control them. They will kill for almost nothing…nice watch, saw you with some money, like your vehicle, see you have a new iPhone. We stopped going down when one of our long time friends was kidnapped, tortured and murdered, for his 8 year old Toyota Tundra. That and the fact that in the local area, 3 other gringos had been murdered in the previous 2 years for similar reasons. Mexico IS a dangerous place where even the Cops will stop you for no reason and then threaten to take you to jail unless you give them 5000 pesos or more.

That's the challenge with using personal stories as political evidence.

For every person who says they felt safer in Mexico, you'll find others who have experienced the exact opposite.

Individual experiences can vary wildly.

That's why we have crime statistics, risk assessments, and public safety data in the first place.

They help us see the bigger picture instead of drawing national conclusions from isolated stories.

The debate should be about the evidence, not whose anecdote is more dramatic.

That is evidence Fred not anecdotal. There is a very large number of both Canadians and Americans whose experience is very similar to ours. And just before COVID there was a fairly large contingent of both who lived around the town closest to us who left due to cartel influence and increasing violence, never to return. My story and their’s are all part of the actual statistics, that say Mexico is a violent country and becoming more so.

They also suffer from the smuggling in of weapons from the USA.

PP is a pox on our country.

Sorry but the maple MAGA woman at the airport…really? PP is using her story as a legitimate reason to move to Mexico because she feels unsafe in Canada? Never have I ever heard such BS. Good luck to her in Mexico.

🇨🇦💙 We really need to keep Pp as leader of the opposition. 😏 Mexico’s homicide rate is 9 times higher than Canada’s. Mexico’s cartels don’t usually target foreigners directly — the real risk is being caught in crossfire, kidnapping or corrupt or even fake police extorting $ from tourists. She reminds me of the Trump Door Dash woman who was proven to be a paid MAGA advocate.

The bigger issue isn't the woman Roxy.

She's entitled to her opinion.

The issue is taking one person's experience and presenting it as evidence that Vancouver...

and by extension Canada... is in the middle of a crime crisis.

Public policy should be built on data, not anecdotes.

Otherwise, any story that fits a political narrative can be used to sell a version of reality that doesn't match the facts.

We must keep calling this Maple MAGA Moron out at every turn. PoiLIEvre. He hasn't clued in yet to realize that intelligent Canadians see right through him and despise his antics. ❤️🇨🇦

I hear you Cath.

The tactic is the problem... take one story, inflate it into a national crisis, then attack anyone who asks for evidence.

That may work on people already looking for a reason to be angry, but a lot of Canadians can still spot the trick.

Fear is easy to sell.

Facts are harder... but they last longer.
