🇨🇦💙 Since Carney’s epic speech at Davos, (many consider it to be the best speech ever made in the history of Davos) he has become the trump slayer and convinced the rest of the world to join him. He’s been to every country you spoke of encouraging middle powers that united they can stand up to any power. From CPTTT to APAC to EU to G20 to China, Carney has been relentless in promoting Canadian values and rules based trade.
Let’s remember those elected to lead the US government wanted an isolationist policy and now they have it. Given that they are clearly not strategists, planners, and/or cooperative with allies, they didn’t get what they expected. Not surprising or shocking.
I mean, why would they!?!?!? They have been constantly attacked, tariffed, and generally told they are weak and worthless and not reliable or trustworthy. Where is the cost benefit ration here. The almighty USA unilaterally allowed Israel to once again wag our leash and we came running to bomb the hell out of a country that was 0 threat. Yes Iran sucks and is run by horrible people but when the guy in charge of threat analysis quits because there is no threat then that says something. Once again the fanta menace proves just how stupid and inept he and our leadership is. Sure we can bomb the shit out of them, but to what end!?!?!!?
Without mentioning Trump treatment amongst its allies during his 2nd term.
There was no consultation amongst western allies nor clear objective planning. No allied country is willing to send its military into an aimless conflict and there would be no support at home. Countries that risk going are under risk of future terrorist attacks on home soil and a long protracted war.
Countries that participated during the Afghan/Iraq war still remember vividly the sacrifice and cost of such conflict Afghanistan eventually fell back on the Taliban. Countries that western allies occupied became worse off after their homeland was destroyed.
US has the greatest navy in the world but wanted ally support only for the opportunity for countries that assist securing the strait of Hormuz to be dragged in and used as cannon fodder. No thanks D. Trump!

Once a country commits ships or troops, it becomes legally and politically tied to the conflict.
And a lot of capitals seem to be asking the same question first...
