In the past week I have seen - and reported - well written, polished posts on Substack that vilify Mr. Carney and his wife and imply they are part of a global financial conspiracy. What more can I do?
They have started to realize they are being fed lies by the MSM, because they are now aware of how many of them are American owned, so they are seeking out more independent factual reporting. Ground News has seen a huge increase in traffic.
As well the messages from the right and the Conservatives are starting to fall on deaf ears, and more are realizing we are in very good hands with Carney while the other side is trafficking in MAGA BS, and working to destroy the sitting Government for no obvious reason but ego, and an inability to pivot their messaging.
And I’ve seen many write that they just can’t stand Poilievre anymore.
In Kelowna the centre of the Right In BC, there was supposed to be a huge rally at one of the bigger convention centres with all the latest right wing ”celebrities” including the Ostrich Farm owners, a bunch from the separation movement in Alberta along with the loudest and most toxic Conservatives in the federal government and in B.C.
It was cancelled.
Of course they laid the blame on the Feds, on woke citizens, on LBGTQ+2 making the centre stop the rally which wasn’t true….they couldn’t sell enough tickets to pay for the rental of the centre for even one of the the 3 day event they had booked.
2 years ago that place would have been packed to the rafters.
Agree there are multiple competing narratives. It's worth mentioning though that the IMF's COFER report notes that the proportion of CAD in global FX reserves has fallen considerably. So while there is foreign investor interest, the weakening of CAD in the reserve context complicates the narrative further.
LMFAO! The CONSERVATIVE OPPOSITION LEADER had the Audacity to stand in HOC and tell Canadians that Prime Minister Carney doesn’t know ECONOMICS.
Callura... bold claims are easy in politics.
The harder part is backing them up with facts.
That’s where things usually get quiet.
You carefully avoided the two questions: who is creating the narrative? Why?
Joanna... it’s not one player.
It’s politicians pushing angles, media chasing clicks, and money backing the loudest voices.
Follow incentives… and the story usually reveals itself.

Joanna... you can’t out-shout conspiracy content, and trying just feeds it.
Report it, ignore the bait, and keep putting real information in front of people.
Truth wins slower… but it lasts longer.
I have begun to notice a sea change in Canadians.

Alexis... there’s definitely a shift in awareness.
People are starting to ask, “who’s telling me this… and why?”
That’s a good sign.
The danger is swapping one narrative for another without checking the facts underneath.
Absolutely. Ground News is definitely one of the best for showing where biases lie in every news story.
That’s the shift happening right now Alexis...
people aren’t just reading the news anymore… they’re reading the coverage.
You hardly ever hear of the positive, even on Canadian news.
I have always trusted cbc news but they don’t seem to know what’s happening.
They follow trump more than Carney
When you have the most powerful economic force, the US, trying to choke you, I think we have faired pretty well.
A long road ahead, but the alternative is a lot worse.
Bob... good observation.
News tends to follow the loudest fire, not the slow build.
The trick is not confusing coverage with reality... they’re often two different things.

SR... great point.
The reserve share trend is worth watching.
I’d separate it from short-term investment flows though...
Central bank reserves move slowly and reflect long-term positioning, while capital inflows react faster to current conditions.
Both matter, just on different timelines.
Agree
Don’t let the facts get in the way of some good fear mongering, I suppose.
A fundamental shift is underway in the structure of global power.
For decades, geopolitical influence was defined by:
Military capability
Economic scale
Strategic alliances
Today, a new variable has moved to the center:
Technology.
Artificial intelligence, semiconductor manufacturing, and clean energy systems are no longer supporting sectors of the global economy.
They are becoming the primary determinants of geopolitical power.
The New Equation
The emerging reality can be summarized simply:
Technological power = geopolitical power
Nations that lead in:
AI development and deployment
Advanced chip design and fabrication
Control over battery and energy supply chains
will shape:
Global economic structures
Security architectures
Information ecosystems
Standards and norms for the digital age
This is not a future scenario.
It is already unfolding.
The Silent Acceleration
What makes this shift particularly significant is its resilience.
Despite:
Ongoing conflicts
Economic uncertainty
Geopolitical fragmentation
Investment in technology continues to accelerate globally.
Capital is flowing into:
AI infrastructure
Semiconductor ecosystems
Clean energy innovation
This indicates a strategic consensus:
Technology is the most reliable path to long-term dominance.
The Expanding Frontier
The competition is not limited to current technologies.
Emerging domains are already reshaping the horizon:
Quantum computing, with the potential to break existing encryption systems
Next-generation cloud and AI ecosystems redefining productivity and control
Integrated digital infrastructure linking economies, defense, and governance
These are not isolated innovations.
They are components of a new global operating system.
The Strategic Shift Required
Global leaders must move from:
Viewing technology as an economic sector → to treating it as strategic infrastructure
Supporting innovation → to orchestrating national and allied tech ecosystems
Competing in markets → to competing in system design
Because the nature of competition has changed.
It is no longer about outperforming rivals within the same system.
It is about building the system others must operate within.
