I could never understand when or why these basic principles or ideals earned branding, and to use 'woke' isn't undesirable. Most people would find wokeness anchored in morality. If that's the case, I'm a wokety-woke bloke.
Maybe if all of us who try to live good, moral lives started calling ourselves "wokety-woke blokes" it would stop scaring off the MAGAts who are afraid being woke might be a good thing.
The term "woke" has pissed me off from the first time I heard it. Ron DeSantis uses it extensively and it basically refers to anybody who disagrees with the Republican autocratic philosophy.
There you go, reading my mind again Fred!!! LOL "WOKE" It has been driving me nuts since the first time it came out of anyones mouth! All those things we have automatically done all our lives is now a NEW thing called WOKE! It's not woke people, it's the pure common sense most of us have lived all our lives, but, now people refer to plain common sense as woke. It's an insult to the intelligence of those of us that can count to three & run, jump, play hide n seek. Are these people just catching up to our kindergarden days? It's the bloody weed, right? Awwwaaaaaoooooman! haha
I remember the word "Woke" being used in a positive context. People defined themselves as such. It was basically a way of saying, I believe in equity. Then the right twisted it into an insult. I'm glad to see people reclaiming the term.
I'd take it one step further. "What? You're not woke?"
For me, it's simple. The needs of the group need consideration before the needs of the individual. It's a combination of empathy and awareness in your world view.

it’s just everyday common sense getting a new label slapped on it.
