Why I Pivoted... And What Happens Next
Why the serious writing lives here... and the conversation lives elsewhere
I want to take a moment to explain something plainly, because you deserve that.
When I started GeezerWise, my original plan was straightforward:
I was going to write about how regular people… especially older folks… can make additional income online using nothing more than a computer, an internet connection, and some common sense.
No hype.
No Lambos.
No fake gurus.
Just practical, doable ways to earn and think independently in a digital world.
That plan didn’t disappear.
It got interrupted.
The Canada Strong Pivot
What did happen was this:
I started writing commentary about Canada… our economy, our sovereignty, our relationship with the U.S., and the pressure campaigns being applied to us.
And almost overnight, it turned into something bigger than a few posts.
Canada Strong took off.
Not because I planned a movement…
but because a lot of Canadians were already feeling the same unease… they just hadn’t seen it put into words.
Facebook was the obvious place to start.
I know it well. I understand how it works. And for social interaction, it’s still useful.
But I also learned something very quickly…
If you grow too fast…
If your posts travel too far…
If you say things that make certain people uncomfortable…
Facebook shuts you down first and asks questions later.
Sometimes quietly.
Sometimes “temporarily.”
Sometimes with a smile.
That was my wake-up call.
Rented Land vs. Home Base
So I made a decision.
I moved the commentary… the analysis, the takedowns, the inconvenient truths… here on Substack.
This is where I can write clearly, calmly, and without constantly looking over my shoulder.
Facebook still has a role… but it’s a different one now.
I’ll use the FB group for socializing, conversation, and community.
Not for work that needs space, context, and permanence.
Think of it this way:
Facebook = the coffee shop
Substack = the editor’s desk
And About the Original Plan…
It’s still very much alive.
Once Canada Strong is firmly established here, I’ll be returning to writing about…
Making additional income online
Using tech without being intimidated by it
Thinking independently in a digital economy
Building leverage instead of dependency
Those two streams… clear thinking and practical earning… actually belong together.
You can’t build a future if you’re distracted, bullied, or silenced.
Final Word
Nothing here was accidental.
I didn’t abandon the plan…
I adjusted to reality.
Thanks for sticking with me through the pivot.
And welcome to the place where the writing actually happens.
What to Expect Going Forward
To keep things clear…
Substack is where the serious writing lives.
This is my editor’s desk… long-form commentary, context, receipts, and the kind of thinking that doesn’t survive well on rented land.
If I’m taking something apart…
If I’m connecting dots…
If I’m saying the inconvenient part out loud…
It’ll be here.
Facebook stays… but with a different role.
The Canada Strong FB group remains the place to socialize, react, share headlines, and talk things out with other Canadians.
Think…
Conversation
Community
“Did you see this?” moments
Not…
Deep analysis
Long-form takedowns
Work that needs room to breathe
That work belongs here.
One Last Thing
This Substack is 100% free.
No paywall.
No “upgrade to read.”
No bait-and-switch.
If you’re here, you’re my people… and I want this writing accessible to anyone who needs it.
Thanks for moving with me.

Canada Strong Movement… House Rule & Disclosure
Canada Strong exists to defend Canadian sovereignty, democratic norms, and economic independence… without imported talking points or borrowed outrage.
House rule… Facts and good-faith discussion are welcome. I use AI tools to help turn my spoken drafts into clear writing. I’m 73, my hands shake, and I type with two fingers… so I speak first, then edit.
The ideas, positions, and final message are mine.

Here is a hot topic that is local to BC and needs some serious discussion. I have enjoyed a couple of educational videos involving Queens University Law Professor Bruce Pardy speaking on protecting property owner’s rights. The BC NDP premier has taken us in a direction involving First Nations, UNDRIP, DRIPA, unceded territory and the contested fee simple land title rights of individuals and businesses.
