The lack of diplomacy is staggering. History has shown that to placate a bully is not strategically advantageous. I hope the leaders of the world remember this when they are considering the options.

I’m not gonna lie on one hand I am concerned because it’s when he’s at his most desperate where Trump is really dangerous but simultaneously I can’t help but laugh at how the world has collectively given Trump the middle finger

That’s pretty much where a lot of people are landing right now.

The dangerous part is exactly what you said... desperation makes leaders unpredictable.

But the other reality is something we’ve never really seen before...

countries quietly refusing to line up behind Washington.

That’s a major geopolitical shift.

Washington starts the strikes then asks allies to patrol the Strait of Hormuz. I checked petition e-7252 on ourcommons.ca. It calls for Ottawa to condemn the attacks on Iran and refuse any military support. We sent ships for similar patrols in 2019 under Operation ARTEMIS. This time Canadians want Parliament to say no first.

Good catch on the petition.

For anyone curious, Petition e-7252 is currently open on the Canadian House of Commons site.

It calls on Ottawa to condemn attacks on civilians in Iran, support international investigations, and ensure Canada does not provide military, intelligence, or logistical support to the current U.S.–Israeli campaign.

It’s still gathering signatures and runs until April 9, 2026, so we’ll see how much traction it gets nationally.

You’re also right about the precedent.

Canada has previously sent naval assets to the region... including maritime security operations tied to counter-terrorism patrols like Operation ARTEMIS after earlier tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Whether Canadians would support that kind of deployment this time is the real political question.

Because sending ships into the Strait of Hormuz isn’t just escort duty.

It puts Canadian sailors directly into the middle of a shooting range if the conflict escalates.

And that’s exactly the debate Parliament will eventually have to confront.

And, Iran is not stupid enough to wake sleeper cells in the US, as yhat may get the Predator in Chief to invoke NATO article 5.

Ya, trumpie starts the fight, then expects all his neighbours to bail him out!!!! If you start it, then finish it! He is gloating over "taking" Cuba. He will starve them like he is starving Americans & then have his own island like Epsteins again...insert pig latin here...pppfffttt

You’re touching on the frustration a lot of countries are feeling right now.

Allies usually expect to be consulted before military action, not invited afterward to help manage the consequences.

That’s part of why so many governments are moving cautiously before committing ships or troops to anything in the Gulf.

Yes, exactly Fred! Are we all volunteering to send our sons & daughters to be killed defending the likes of T? I think not! I hope every country stands their ground!

You've missed the target. Trump is claiming to be testing NATO. and the result? Trump failed.

The world is not transitioning. It had already moved on. America's Age is over. Trump did it and there is no going back. American pundits are universally wishing for (and laughably – predicting!) a return to normal. Nope. It's over. A complete redesign may start a rebuild of a different but equivalent thing. But America won't be its centre.
