The U.S. Just Tried to Shake Down Canada Over a Bridge
When your neighbor threatens you for building your own driveway… you stop lending him sugar.
Every once in a while, something happens that’s so dumb… you don’t debate it.
You don’t “analyze both sides.”
You don’t call in five talking heads and a constitutional lawyer.
You just stare at it like a raccoon trying to microwave a Pop-Tart and say…
“Yeah… this guy shouldn’t be touching the controls.”
That’s where we are…
The United States president is now threatening Canada over a bridge.
Not a missile system.
Not oil.
Not security.
A bridge.
The new Gordie Howe International Bridge connecting Windsor and Detroit.
Here are the boring adult facts…
Canada owns it.
Canada is paying for it.
Canada’s government funded it.
Costs get recovered with tolls.
In other words…
It’s ours.
We built it like you build a deck in your backyard.
And now Washington is basically saying…
“Nice bridge you got there… shame if something happened to it.”
That’s not trade policy.
That’s mob movie dialogue.
Then comes the rant…
Complaints about…
• “Buy America”
• not enough U.S. steel
• dairy tariffs
• alcohol on shelves
• China
• hockey
• the Stanley Cup (yes… really)
It reads like someone spilled a Red Bull into a keyboard.
And the grand finale?
He says the bridge shouldn’t open unless the U.S. gets compensated.
Maybe even ownership.
Ownership.
Of something they didn’t fund.
Didn’t build.
Didn’t plan.
Didn’t ask for.
That’s not negotiation.
That’s a toddler grabbing another kid’s toy and yelling “MINE.”
Here’s the part nobody on TV will say plainly…
You can’t reason with chaos.
You don’t negotiate with a guy who wakes up angry at breakfast cereal.
Every time he posts nonsense, the media treats it like a chess move.
It’s not chess.
It’s a guy flipping the board.
Stop pretending it’s strategy.
So what do regular Canadians do?
Same thing we’ve already started doing.
We quietly close our wallets.
And that’s where this gets interesting.
Because the numbers tell a different story.
Canadians have already…
• cut U.S. wine & spirits purchases (we were their biggest customer)
• reduced travel south
• shifted spending at home
• boosted local tourism
• boosted Canadian vineyards
Result?
Our domestic industries had record years.
Imagine that.
Spend money here → Canada wins.
Spend money there → they insult us with it.
Not complicated math.
Here’s the part Americans forget…
There are 40+ million of us.
We’re not small.
We’re their biggest customer in multiple sectors.
Tourism.
Alcohol.
Autos.
Consumer goods.
We’re not powerless.
We’re the credit card.
And if the credit card stops swiping?
Things get very quiet, very fast.
So forget the drama.
Forget the outrage cycle.
Forget arguing about “can he legally close the bridge?”
Let the lawyers argue.
Let the politicians posture.
Regular folks?
We vote with receipts.
Buy Canadian.
Vacation Canadian.
Support Canadian.
No speeches required.
Just… stop funding the guy who keeps insulting you.
Because here’s the truth…
When someone keeps slapping you and you keep handing them money…
That’s not diplomacy.
That’s volunteering.
And Canadians aren’t volunteers anymore.
The Recap…
The U.S. president just threatened Canada…
over a bridge we paid for.
Not policy.
Not strategy.
Just noise and extortion vibes.
Here’s the simple move nobody’s talking about…close your wallet and watch what happens.
The Gut Punch…
You don’t negotiate with bullies.
You starve them of your money.

Another yawn. I laughed when I saw it yesterday.
He took a bribe from the owner of the Ambassador Bridge who’s worried he isn’t going to get all his toll candy now.
It’s always transactional with Donnie.
I wish dumpster fire would just go away, he is such a hateful person
