One fine point that seldom is mentioned about this "security clearance" bit: If he is going on about something that *is* sensitive, he knows that his opponent (usually the PM) CAN'T REBUT or challenge PP's arguments properly, because to do so would then disclose the sensitive information further. So, a sucker-punch weapon for him!
The only response, to give (when he goes on about the first point), is to say "but you realize that you are also demonstrating to Canadians that you are incapable of handling sensitive/secret information - very irresponsible! Oh, and the strategy hasn't been helping your cause, either, according to the opinion polls and election results . . . . ."
And as others have indicated already (of sorts), again, his whole messaging strategy here is 100% out of the authoritarian playbook (per Trump, Farage, LePen, Orban, etc.). The timing to be drowning the electorate with this maybe isn't really right now - certainly, it would be for any byelection, though.
