I get it...I'm 80, have a lot of ideas but wasn't sure if they were worthy, if my style was appropriate or if I would be read. I decided to just write comments/opinions for a while. That way it would hone my skills and I would see how they were received. A lot of people seemed to like my thoughts. Now I have written a couple of articles and they were accepted by some. That's a start and from here it's all about growth.
Paradox of choice. I worry about the election tomorrow just because of paradox of choice. For reference Barry White has a well written book with this title.
🇨🇦💙 The competition for the next AI widget is not for everybody. Is it what idea do you have to make money or paying your mortgage?
Do you have any carpentry skills at 60? What’s everybody afraid of? Break ins. Home Security. Thieves have sophisticated software to bypass almost all high tech home security systems and battering rams. Even a $600 high-security lock can fail If the frame, hinges, or strike plate are weak. Take on a younger carpentry student to mentor.

Wanting to use AI without a deep dive can be frustrating especially in your 60’s. It’s like driving an F1 when you don’t know how to shift gears.

That was me when we were told we were going to have to teach online. Not the same reality but I basically sat down and cried trying to come up with ideas. Two and a half lockdowns later, I can create a lot of activities to keep the students engaged I’m okay with be retired after that though 😳

Jim, this is exactly how it starts.
You didn’t wait for confidence... you built it by showing up.
Starting with comments is smarter than most people realize.
You found your voice where the pressure was low, and now you’ve got proof people are listening.
At 80, you’re not “late”… you’re experienced and finally using it.
Keep going. You’re already doing the hard part right.

Zoe, I get that.
Too many choices can actually make things feel less clear, not more.
In moments like this, I find it helps to come back to what matters most to you and choose from there.
At some point, it’s less about perfect options…
and more about making a decision you can stand behind.
Appreciate you bringing that up.

USE AI to do your books, payroll and taxes.
Roxy, I see where you’re going with this...
adapting, building practical skills, and using tools like AI where they actually help.
For me, that’s part of the bigger shift…
people looking for ways to stay capable and not fall behind.
Appreciate you putting those ideas out there.

Roxy, that F1 analogy nails it.
A lot of people are being told “use AI”…
but nobody’s showing them where it actually fits in real life.
And you’re right... when bills are due, theory doesn’t cut it.
There’s a balance here...
→ practical, hands-on skills that solve real problems
→ and using AI where it actually saves time behind the scenes
Not either/or… but knowing which one matters right now.
Appreciate you adding that layer to the conversation.
