I'm so grateful you put all this in writing and on this platform. When you asked the other day for issues any of us might be concerned about I wanted to say the crappy politics no longer suitable for our country and maybe never was. The arguing and demeaning crap that took us nowhere. Thank you Fred. I'm sure there are millions of us Canadians feeling the same way. Canada is growing up. Division is not helping. Lay out opposing issues that are helpful if that's the case but be grown ups about it and not traitors to the country you are supposedly helping. There's a better way. Learn it.
Great points...I thank the universe every morning that Mark Carney decided to take on a usually thankless job in such unprecedented times. I never knew how much I loved this country. Vive Le Canada True North Strong and Free 🇨🇦
Well stated Fred. Unlike you, I voted Conservative in the last election but to be honest I had to plug my nose to do so. I've sent three letters to the Conservative Party of Canada over the past three years strongly suggesting that Poilevre was just too unlikeable and untrustworthy to vote for and that if they wanted to win a federal election, they'd have to run another horse. All I got in response was being added to their mailing list asking for donations.
Justin Trudeau was such a disaster for Canada and I was afraid that Mark Carney would be "Trudeau 3.0". Has he ever surprised me. He's pulling Canada up by its bootstraps, stating our vision, our priorities, and then moving on them to get them done. That's something that as Canadians we are just not used to and I applaud and support everything he's trying to do.
There are a lot of MAPLE MAGA voices trying to tear Carney down. I'm so sick of seeing their negative crap that I'm just ignoring it now. As Canadians, we have the right leader in place, finally, and I'm fully supportive of his efforts.
Frank, I appreciate you laying that out... that’s an honest take.
A lot of Canadians are coming at this from different starting points, but arriving at the same place… recognizing what real leadership looks like when it shows up.
And yeah, the noise is always going to be there.
I’m with you... better to focus on what’s being built than get dragged into it.
I am excited about Canada’s future under a Carney majority. We are finally taking aggressive control of our own national future. No more waiting to see how other nations react. We will have an aggressive Canadian strategy , based on Canadian values. representing the Canadian
mosaic.
Build big, take calculated risk, adjust as necessary , keep moving forward.
I heartily agree with your stance. Tired of the nitpicking—abandoned his values by accepting Gladu. Tired of the rage farming—backroom deals for a majority. Tired of the complaining—makes staff dress like the professionals they are. Tired of the negativity and fence sitting—get on board or get run over. And as an Albertan, fed up and disgusted with that excuse for a human being and Premier, Daniel Smith, and the 53% of low information Albertans who support her!
I'm with you 110% Fred. Now, can you say something about the Data Centre Kevin O'Leary and Danielle Smith are proposing for the Grande Praire area, where fracking is already using up all the water, causing earthquakes, and drought like conditions for years in a row. Of course exacerbating forest fires, and loss of wild life, etc. Thank you for your insights. Interestingly, I have always voted person not party...yet I see eye to eye with you on so many topics. Isn't it great being Canadian ❤️🇨🇦
There are real concerns around projects like that... especially when it comes to water use, energy demand, and environmental impact. Those aren’t things to brush aside.
At the same time, AI and data infrastructure are becoming part of the modern economy, so the question isn’t just “yes or no”… it’s how it’s done, where it’s done, and whether it actually benefits Canadians long-term.
I’ll take a closer look before weighing in properly... it deserves more than a quick take.
Just listening to Charlie Angus today regarding this AI data centre proposed by O'Leary and Smith. It doesn't sound like what we need here. Too many issues involving environmental problems. I am a senior who wants to understand what positive reasons do we use AI for. It seams we hear of more reasons for unlawful scams and taking our water, power, and causing devastation to areas in Alberta that needsl all the things that AI will need to power it... causing more fires, more pollution, agricultural problems. Thanks for any information you can share. 🇨🇦❤️ I love this country and all Canadians need to make sure we keep Canada Strong and moving forward!!
He's definitely the real deal! I'm so happy to see Canada directed to positive outcomes, growth and prosperity with a relative minimum of grumbling and backbiting. Alberta was whining before Carney and will continue to whine until they resolve their inner politics and stop trying to scapegoat Ottawa for every problem. The rest of the country seems to be in reasonable sync. It's an exciting time!!
Couldn't agree more, our man for the times. I just hope Canadians give him the chance he needs to see this through. These are big moves with a lot moving parts and errors will be made. Patience is required. Vigilance is mandatory, it's politics remember.

Jude, this nails it.
That’s exactly the rot people are tired of...
Cheap shots, constant demeaning noise, and political theatre that solves nothing.
Canadians are hungry for grown-up leadership and grown-up public behaviour again.
We can disagree without acting like vandals in our own house.
Thanks for saying this so clearly.
Great points...I thank the universe every morning that Mark Carney decided to take on a usually thankless job in such unprecedented times. I never knew how much I loved this country. Vive Le Canada True North Strong and Free 🇨🇦
LCG, I hear you.
These moments have a way of reminding us what really matters...
and how much this country means when it’s tested.
Appreciate you saying it.

Canada, finally has a
“Richly Imagined Future”
John, that’s well put.
“Taking control of our own future” is exactly the shift... moving from reacting to actually building with intent.
I like how you framed it… build, take smart risks, adjust, and keep moving.
Appreciate you adding that.
Ian, I hear the frustration.
For me, it comes down to watching what actually gets done over time, not just what’s said on any side.
People are going to see it differently...
I’ve made my call based on what I’m seeing right now.
🇨🇦A leader for Canada. A leader for the world🇨🇦
Dean, I like that.
Strong at home… and steady on the world stage.
That’s the kind of leadership people can get behind.
I wish we had a Carney in the US to help us clean up the shitshow we're in right now!
djw, I hear you.
We’re focused on getting our own house in order up here...
and hoping it sets a good example of what steady leadership can look like.
Wishing you the same kind of reset down there.
🇨🇦You are always welcome here neighbour🇨🇦
Dean, that’s the Canada I know.
Welcoming, but grounded… proud of who we are without losing that openness.
I’ve had the opportunity to travel the world with a maple leaf visible and was always welcomed as a friend.
Dean, that says a lot.
That maple leaf carries a reputation...
and it’s built on how Canadians show up in the world.
Good reminder of what we’re working to protect.
Be careful--I might take you up on that! 😁
djw, we’ll keep the door open… just bring a warm jacket 😄 🇨🇦
Ian, I agree with the core of that.
The priority is leading Canada well...
bringing people together and moving the country forward.
If that’s done right, everything else takes care of itself.
Ian, I’m not getting into that here.
My focus on this post is leadership, direction, and what gets built going forward.
People can have different views on specific issues...
I’ve made my position clear on the bigger picture.
Try getting over $40B in new international trade deals without being respected as a world leader.
Dean, fair point.
Respect on the world stage doesn’t come from titles… it comes from results and how you show up.
If we’re getting that kind of traction internationally, it says something about how Canada is being received right now.
Appreciate you adding that.
Ian, I get the skepticism.
MOUs aren’t finished deals...
they’re a starting point.
What matters is what actually gets built and delivered over time.
That’s what I’ll be watching.
I can't say anying else but, well said Fred!
Keith, I appreciate that.
Sometimes simple says it best.

LAS, I hear the frustration.
A lot of people are tired of the noise and the constant negativity...
that’s part of what pushed me to write this.
For me, it comes down to focusing on what actually moves the country forward…
not getting stuck in the back-and-forth.
Appreciate you speaking up.
Yer a wise geezer!
Haha… I’ve had a few years Brian to mess it up and figure a bit of it out 😄
Appreciate that.
Truth is, I’m just trying to keep things simple and honest… and not drift back into the kind of thinking that doesn’t help anyone.
Glad it’s landing.

Lola, I appreciate you bringing that up.
There are real concerns around projects like that... especially when it comes to water use, energy demand, and environmental impact. Those aren’t things to brush aside.

Judy, I’m glad you asked this.
AI itself isn’t the problem... it’s how and where it’s used.
On the positive side, AI is already helping with things like...
improving healthcare (faster diagnosis and better planning)
supporting farmers with crop and weather insights
helping small businesses stay organized and competitive
taking care of routine tasks so people can focus on more important work
Where your concern is valid is the infrastructure behind it...
large data centres do use a lot of energy and sometimes water.
That’s why those projects need to be planned carefully and held to high standards.
For me, it comes down to balance...
use the benefits… while being responsible about the impact.
Appreciate you raising it... and I agree, we all want to see Canada move forward the right way 🇨🇦❤️
Thank you, Fred. 🇨🇦
I voted for Mark Carney not for the party. But, I have voted Liberal before and proud of it.
Natalie, I respect that.
A lot of people made that same call...
looking at the person and the moment, not just the party.
Appreciate you saying it.

Jim, I hear the optimism.
Feels like there’s a shift toward building and moving forward...
and that’s what matters most right now.
Every part of the country has its own challenges, but the bigger opportunity is finding ways to move together instead of apart.
Appreciate you sharing that.
Couldn't agree more, our man for the times. I just hope Canadians give him the chance he needs to see this through. These are big moves with a lot moving parts and errors will be made. Patience is required. Vigilance is mandatory, it's politics remember.
Michael
Michael, well said.
Big moves always come with complexity...
and you’re right, patience and vigilance both matter.
For me, it’s about giving the direction a fair chance while keeping our eyes open on how it unfolds.
Appreciate you putting it that way.
Thank You, Fred, for your wisdom about PM Mark Carney.
We are very fortunate in Canada to have this calibre of person.
Carol-Ann, I appreciate that.
It feels like we’re in one of those moments where leadership really matters…
and people are recognizing it.
Glad you’re seeing it too.
I just wish we had leaders like Carney here in Germany. It would make me proud of my country.
Tobias, I hear you.
Every country goes through its moments where people are looking for steady, confident leadership.
We’re feeling that shift here right now.
Wishing you the same kind of clarity and direction in Germany.
Well said bud!
L M, I appreciate that bud.
Glad it landed.
Great read Fred!!! Too bad there's a couple of bridge trolls in our list haha
Patsy, appreciate you.
Every room gets a couple of those... comes with the territory.
I’m just focused on the people here for a real conversation.
