Dear Son…
Life has a way of dragging you around by the collar if you don’t learn to let go.
I’ve lived most of my years trying to control everything.
This letter is a reminder that freedom lives in surrender.
You can stop white-knuckling the reins now.
You're not in control—and you never were.
That’s not a failure. That’s freedom.
See, we're taught to grip life tight.
Make plans. Set goals. Crash deadlines.
But what no one tells you is that life has its own rhythm.
And it doesn’t care much for your script.
You think surrender means giving up.
It doesn’t.
It means trusting what already knows the way.
You don’t have to chase, fix, force, or fake.
You just have to show up and be still enough to listen.
That thing inside you that wants to control everything?
That’s fear, pretending to be responsibility.
Let it go.
Because when you loosen your grip,
life can finally take your hand.
Love,
—Dad
