Don’t Numb Out—Get Clear
If I had a son, I’d check in on him every damn day right now. The world is in chaos—but your mind doesn’t have to be.
Dear Son,
I would be checking in on you every damn day right now.
Not to nag.
Just to make sure you're okay.
That you’re still you.
Because what’s happening out there?
It’s not normal.
It’s not “just politics.”
It’s a full-on flood of lies, intimidation, and chaos—on purpose.
And if you’re not careful, it’ll drown your spirit without you even noticing.
There’s a term for it: “flood the zone with shit.”
Make everything so toxic, so confusing, that truth drowns.
You get tired. You tune out.
You stop trusting your own instincts.
You go numb.
And that’s exactly what they want.
But I’ve lived long enough to know what happens when good people stop paying attention.
So here’s what I’d tell you, Son:
Don’t numb out. Get clear.
Find one voice you trust—someone like Sam Harris, who doesn’t just talk, but thinks.
Follow people who model integrity, not anger.
People who teach you how to think, not what to think.
Protect your attention like it’s sacred—because it is.
Stay off the rage-feeds. They’re designed to hijack your nervous system and leave you hopeless.
Tell the truth, even when it costs you. Especially then.
And Son… if you’re suffering, don’t you dare suffer in silence.
I don't care if you're 15 or 50—I’d still want to know if your heart’s heavy or your mind’s tangled.
Talk to someone. Hell, talk to me.
You’re not weak for struggling. You’re human.
I’ve lived through my own dark seasons.
Addiction. Shame. Silence.
And I can tell you this:
There’s light on the other side of the mess.
But you have to stay alive to see it.
And that means protecting your mind, your body, and your spirit in times like these.
If I had a son, I’d want him to hear this.
Fred
