Today, I’m setting aside business talk, productivity hacks, and AI wizardry.
Because this moment belongs to something deeper.
Something older than me.
Something I’m proud to call home.
Canada turned 158 today. And I’ve got a few things to say.
You don’t always ask for attention. You’re modest like that.
But that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve it.
You’ve given me more than just land to stand on.
You’ve given me peace of mind.
✅ I’ve lived through the highs and lows.
✅ I’ve seen systems fail and people fall through cracks.
✅ But I’ve also seen you step up in ways most countries can only dream of.
You’ve given me healthcare when I was hurting.
You’ve given me freedom when I was lost.
You’ve given me a culture of tolerance, humility, and grace.
And while you’re far from perfect (who isn’t?),
you’re still heaven on earth compared to so much of the world.
I love my American brothers and sisters. I pray for their healing.
But I’ll say it again without shame:
I am proud as hell to be Canadian.
And on this 158th birthday, I’m saying it out loud.
Thank you for giving me a home worth loving.
With gratitude,
Fred Ferguson
