While Washington argues with itself, Canada is quietly building new customers, new markets, and a stronger economy. The latest numbers suggest that strategy is beginning to pay off.
What I find exciting is there's no going back. New supply chains are going to be created. When the US gets it act back together the Canada US relationship is going to be fundamentally changed. They may go back a normalized trade relationship with Canada, but won't have the negotiating power it maintained for decades.
Or had Chrystia Freeland not refused to table Trudeau’s fall 2024 budget, which lead to his resignation and the subsequent election of our current prime minister.
These numbers are encouraging. I am hoping that they will only get even better when the seeds Mark Carney is sowing with the Canada Investment Summit and European Associate Membership create more growth.
And that’s what I’m watching now... not just today’s numbers, but what happens when those new relationships start turning into investment, contracts and actual trade.

Exactly, Eric.
That’s the shift.
Even if the political relationship eventually normalizes...
Canada won’t unbuild the new customers, supply chains and relationships we’re creating now.
We’re not replacing the U.S.
We’re making sure nobody ever has that much leverage over us again.
What happens when the US market is no longer the centre of the world?
Every one of yours Fred sends me a little into nightmare land of where we’d be had Carney not come forward! 😵💫🙏🇨🇦
I’ve had that same thought more than once, Patricia. 😳
We’ll never know how the alternative would have played out...
but I’m damn glad Canada started building options when it did.
Glad for that, Fred! Probably more glad that we’ll not ever find out what could have been had Carney not stepped forward to serve! 🇨🇦

Oh YES, Maureen! You very smart, observant and thinking “cookie!” Well done! Thank you!! 😱 🇨🇦

Exactly, Frank.

The seeds are planted.
Now we watch what grows.
Great as usual, Fred.
Thank You
