Trump thought he was picking a fight with a polite little country. He forgot our national animal has enormous teeth, a lousy attitude, and a memory for trouble.
Here's another one for you. If you watch the Netflix show *Below* (and you should) you'll notice Pepsi signs on every bar and store in this Newfoundland fishing town, and the locals ordering Rum and Pepsi.
I don't know if it's a paid product placement, but I do know that it's culturally accurate. After Coca-Cola closed a Newfoundland bottling plant in 1992, putting locals out of work, every bar and restaurant purged Coke products, hung up Pepsi signs, and locals started asking for a Rum and Pepsi instead of a Rum and Coke.
Now thirty years later, that's still the case and you can see it in *Below*, which my wife calls Newfie Jaws. We both really enjoyed it.
Good to hear. Maybe someday Crave will run it. I cancelled Netflix and long for the day when our Canadian creators come back from the US and make our own fabulous content here. Hopefully dubbed/subtitled for international audiences. Quebec manages so I don t see what the ROC cant tell our own stories.
"there's a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in" and how a single little flower can grow through a pile of rocks on a hillside. the grace in hardship or betrayal is the next and likely better opportunity. this has been my experience. of course it's not easy and I hope our youth today learn to cope with "not easy" in stronger more self-fulfilling ways.
Thank you Fred for the ease in your platform style and shining the light over crucial complexities during the upheaval of change.
Great job today Fred. I have been mulling around the idea of another way to describe our resolve in this mess besides petty. I think your beaver story shows it perfectly. Canada is growing in ways I never imagined and I am thankful for the forward thinking of our Prime Minister.
My ex and I owned a movie theatre in a small town in northern BC a long time ago. We always caught flak from the patrons for serving Pepsi instead of Coke but they gave us such great service and pricing that we just stuck with them. Interesting story about NL. I never knew that. I am a lifelong Pepsi person myself. Way off topic but this no time change thing has got me all scrambled this morning.
So Happy November to all of Canada and Thank You Fred. I have learned so much from you!!
Good one. One of the democratic hopefuls to become the next USA president, NEWSOM, refused to comment on, if becoming president, he would eliminate the tariffs trump put in place. So already, it seems as if nothing will change if the democrats win the presidency in 2028. Keep that info in an active brain cell for when debates about Canada and tariffs and the USA come around. And it will.
