Excellent, Geezer. Sir Wilfred Laurier said basically that the 19th century belonged to the United States and the 20th would belong to Canada. He was a century off in his famous statement. But with Carney, the 21st century might swing Canada’s way.

Laurier was definitely optimistic Scott.

I don’t know about Canada “owning” a century, but if we play our cards right we can be far more influential than our size suggests.

I thought about Laurier saying that too. Canada needed the 20th Century to grow and stumble and show ourselves to the world, but we're always thought of as a cousin or a sibling of older nations. WWI showed our independence as a nation, the second showed our fortitude and the fight for what was right and democratic. Now we show our global face and I am so proud. 🇨🇦 Can't think of a better place to call home and so proud of Carney standing up for us. ❤️

Canada has had a long road getting here Judy.

History tends to move slower than politics, but moments like this do make people stop and look again.

Absolutely, there is no place better to live!

Great piece again Fred. Carney is putting pieces together without blasting trumpets or thumping his chest... moving countries together instead of being competitors... I listened to his speech in Australia and it is amazing how developed this idea is already.

Having the UK, New Zealand, Australia and Canada working together would bring great benefit to our countries as well as to people wanting to work in different countries for a few years and move on.

That is a trend now and being able to move and work in one of these countries could bring enormous benefits to all economies- great things built together!

Good observation Gail.

A lot of the groundwork seems to be happening quietly through agreements and partnerships rather than big announcements.

That kind of slow build usually turns out to be the most durable.

You can tell Canadians are pissed by the amount of work that goes into things like this. As an Albertan and proud Canadian I love this!! Thank you!!

Wasn’t Carney’s original response to the Iran attack a form of deference?Just sayin’
