I'm beginning to wish I were young enough to think Canada might take me in. I used to live in a country I thought had real potential, but then an orange TACO moved into the White House (I *don't* believe he was elected fairly!), and it's all been downhill from there. Canada appears to have smart, caring people all over the place. I'd love to have some of that!
(I have a nephew who's lived there since Shrub was elected here. He said he'd seen enough of Shrub in Texas--he grew up there--and didn't need him on a national level. He was right!)
The election is April 13. Not in October! There are apparently 9 more CPC members thinking to cross the floor. This is not good news for Poilievre. He's been a leader of rage farming and now, when it's time to actually read the room, he isn't capable. Carney is not a politician. Hes not a touchy feely guy. He's a planner, a strategist. He understands economics. He doesn't suffer fools. He's working on a plan to keep Canada strong, growing and surviving the economic pain that is emerging world wide. I am not a liberal or conservative, but I think Carney is the leader Canada needs right now. Those CPC members who have crossed and are thinking of crossing are likely thinking the same.
Mary Margaret, I agree heartily, but see Mark Carney as man who feels strongly about Canada. He laughs with us, cries with with us, and sees our problems, because they are also his problems. He speaks with honesty and strength, but also emotion and feelings. Carney is truly the best choice for Prime Minister. He unites us and sees through the world of fakes and frauds. Let's give him the time to accomplish projects and global growth. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I don't know why he survived the leadership review. I haven't cared for him since he first became the leader. I stopped voting Conservative and I live in Alberta.
I have never liked him blaming, and rhyming, and his voice grates like nails on a chalk board... really never heard him til the trucker's nonsense in Ottawa. 🤔😞
PP might surprise us & walk across as well. I had read about this lady earlier in the day, that she had crossed the floor! I'm feeling like hoorayyyyyy, just a couple more & no election is necessary! Woo hooo! Let's get on with our lives!

Canada’s got its problems too, my friend...
but at least we still occasionally mistake competence for a national value.
Appreciate you reading.

🇨🇦You are welcome any time neighbour🇨🇦

Fair point on the date correction Mary... I fixed it thank you.
And I think your broader point is the key one...
this looks less like ideology and more like MPs deciding who they trust to navigate rough water.
Whether people love Carney or not, many clearly see him as serious in a moment that demands seriousness.

A lot of people had the same reaction Judy...
that the style may energize a base, but it wears thin fast with voters looking for substance over slogans.
You’re not alone in that Sandi.
A lot of long-time Conservatives seem less opposed to the party than they are to the direction and tone it took under his leadership.
That Steven Bartlett interview was a total show of ineptitude.
It did him no favours. Hard to project “prime ministerial” when you look unprepared under basic scrutiny.
This is what happens when a “grassroots” party only allows chosen elites to vote in a leadership review.
That’s the contradiction Dean, isn’t it?
A party can call itself grassroots all day long...
but if the real decisions stay tightly controlled at the top, people eventually notice the gap between branding and reality.

If Pierre crossed the floor Patsy, Ottawa might need a structural engineer to assess the building afterward.
😄 But yes... at this rate, the drama may resolve itself before voters ever need to.
