The Indigenous Peoples won't ever agree to leave Canada. They play a big part of this failed campaign. I hope it's the last time Canadians have to deal with these issues. 🇨🇦
Why would anyone want to leave Canada? Take a look at the USA today and its government! We have an excellent Prime Minister and a lot of freedom it is not to be negated.
72% of Albertans would vote against separation. It's nothing more than a Trump branded golden paradise promise that has no plan and no support to get to some ambiguous utopia that in the real world cannot exist. They haven't even bothered to think it through on grown-up terms. Rath et al are like children trying to sell painted stones as gems.
Québec separation sentiment tends to flare up whenever national tensions rise, but there’s a big difference between political noise and an actual path to separation.
And honestly, after everything Québec went through during the referendum years…
I suspect a lot of people there understand the economic and social disruption better than most.
What’s interesting to me is how quickly frustration in modern politics now gets translated into...
“Maybe we should leave.”
That’s happening all over the Western world right now.
Not just here.
People feel disconnected, unheard, economically squeezed, and distrustful of institutions…
so separation starts getting marketed as an emotional escape hatch.
The hard part is that countries, provinces, and economies are deeply interconnected systems now.
Pulling one thread affects everything else attached to it.
Which is why slogans are always simpler than reality.
This guy needs to be asked on camera why he prefers the pedo regime to Canada. Yeah this creepy cowboy gives off so much psycho vibes— he needs to be investigated..
More important to me: The two grifters who are driving this crap are NOT ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE. They are just a couple of malcontent hicks who have been pushing this line for YEARS while they collect money out of the Alberta Taxpayers' pockets to line their own. They have finally co-opted the dumbest bone head politician ever elected by the Province of Alberta - Danielle Smith - whose sole claim to fame is that she has finally achieved her goal in life - to be famous-for-being-famous. Her entire life has been focused on attention-seeking by any means. She has no skills, accomplishments or substantial gifts. She is a mile wide and an inch deep and being led by the nose by these two mendacious liars.
Smith's only notable accomplishments as Premier of Alberta are that she has managed to almost entirely dismantle our Universal Health Care system and is in the process of dismantling our Public Education system. But she keeps pouring MY TAX DOLLARS into the pockets of opportunistic grifters. The six dyspeptic, whining, geriatric farmers who have been pushing this idea among the electorate have nowhere near the votes to make it real, even if Dumb Danielle gets a referendum in the next election cycle.
I AM CANADIAN!! Albertans need to do what they have always done - stop whining! Stand up and contribute to the country.
I'm with you Jane! Why are these men always complaining. For the most part we have it pretty good in this province. I'm following Mr Carney and his plan for the future of Canada which includes Alberta!
Great post Fred! Good to hear more about the failure that the bwitch of the west is creating for it's constituents! In essence, she is showing exactly that she DOES NOT care for the people! Sad,
Fred, can you do a post about the conference that Mr. Carney, Barack Obama and Senator Slotkin spoke at this past weekend? There seems to be a lot in that going over my head.
Thank you, Fred. All I can think of is why push this now when there is so much going on with trade talks, oil prices and the US election coming up? But, thanks to your posts, I think I know why: it is happening PRECISELY because all this chaos is occurring.
It's easy to start a conspiracy theory - especially given today's tech, however there are efforts also using communication tech to distribute the real, actual stats: https://youtu.be/lNqHwtLZFhM?si=UETz5wKm-Fmzu-6o

It's a carrot. Those who get behind it are mules.
That’s the part that keeps getting lost in the emotional noise.
Most Albertans are frustrated with certain policies or power dynamics.
That does NOT automatically translate into wanting to blow up the country.
And you nailed something important...
A lot of this rhetoric sounds less like governance…
and more like a marketing campaign for an imaginary future where all the hard constraints magically disappear.
No trade complications.
No treaty complications.
No pension complications.
No economic disruption.
No capital flight.
No negotiation gridlock.
Just vibes and victory music.
Real nation-building doesn’t work that way.
It’s easy to sell paradise when nobody asks for the engineering plans.
These people are delusional. Quebec tried it twice and failed. Alberta has less of a chance.
I heard on the news today that Quebec is thinking of separation again! Honestly haven't they learned! They seem to be the spoiled child of Canada.

One really big wedge is called Treaty Land, thus federal not provincial, unless you plan to go to war. Good luck with that.
Exactly.
That’s one of the biggest realities the slogan crowd never seems to touch.
Treaty relationships are with the Crown and the federal framework...
not simply whatever provincial government happens to be in office at the moment.
People talk about separation like they’re cancelling a gym membership.
In reality, you’re talking about constitutional law, treaty obligations, land jurisdiction,
resource control, Indigenous sovereignty, and international recognition all colliding at once.
That’s why these “just leave” videos feel emotionally simple but structurally absurd once you start pulling on the threads.
Appreciate you bringing that piece into the discussion.

Friend of the moron? Probably.

What stands out to me Jane...
is that a LOT of ordinary Albertans seem exhausted by the constant performance aspect of this conversation.
There’s a difference between...
“Alberta deserves a stronger voice inside Canada”
and
“Let’s emotionally market separation every election cycle.”
Those are not the same thing.
And I think your comment touches something important that gets lost online...
most people still have to wake up the next morning and live in the real world.
Pay bills.
Run businesses.
Go to work.
Deal with healthcare.
Raise families.
That’s why the fantasy version of separation often crashes into resistance...
once people start asking practical questions instead of emotional ones.
Frustration is real.
But frustration alone is not a nation-building plan.
I'm with you Jane! Why are these men always complaining. For the most part we have it pretty good in this province. I'm following Mr Carney and his plan for the future of Canada which includes Alberta!
I think that’s where a lot of Canadians are landing right now Sandi.
Not:
“Everything is perfect.”
But:
“We’re better off fixing the house than setting it on fire.”
There’s room for legitimate debate about energy policy, equalization, representation, and Ottawa’s relationship with the provinces.
But there’s also a growing fatigue with politics being turned into permanent outrage theatre.
Most people want stability.
Competence.
Adult conversations.
And a future that still works 10 years from now...
not just a slogan that feels good for 10 minutes online.
That’s the difference between governing and performing.

Just like Reform in the United Kingdom
